Program Description

Respite care is offered to families who have a child with a medical or developmental diagnosis that limits the family's ability to receive traditional in home childcare. Families qualify for respite services if their child(under 17) has a Manatee County IEP, is receiving therapy or has a diagnosis including but not limited to Autism, ADHD, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Spina Bifida, or other genetic or developmental conditions. Proof of diagnosis or copies of documentation are required. Care is not only for the qualifying child but for all siblings under the age of 17 who reside in the same household. Services are offered on weekends, evenings, and some holidays. Services include in-home respite as well as bi-monthly center-based care, known as "Kid's Night Out". Parent support groups that provide respite care are offered frequently throughout the year. Fees for services are based on income. Families pay per visit rather than an hourly fee.

Please request a schedule annually. Families coordinate with their respite provider dates and times of services. Families are eligible for up to 12 hours per month in addition to the 4-hour bi-monthly center-based care.
