Program Description

HOPE Family Services' Advocacy Program assists survivors of domestic violence with identifying and overcoming barriers to a safe way of life. HOPE's case management services in the advocacy department are designed to address emergency issues such as financial concerns, and housing, food, and clothing; as well as information and referrals to other organizations that can be of assistance. Advocacy includes assisting with court-related matters, such as Injunctions for Protection, accompanying clients to hearings and facilitating legal referrals when necessary. Advocates also assist participants with job training opportunities and issues surrounding economic justice. *Call for an appointment at (941)747-8499 (V/TTY) *24-Hour Text Line: Text "survivor" to 69922 *English and Spanish speaking advocates available. *Walk-ins accepted.

HOPE Family Services offers a 24 hour, 365 days a year Helpline; a friendly, sympathetic and informed person to talk to in an emergency. For assistance on holidays or after hours call (941)747-8499 (V/TTY). HOPE's Outreach Office is closed on holidays.
Eligibility Requirements and Important Information

HOPE's Victim Advocacy Program helps victims and survivors of domestic violence (18-years-old and older) who are have experienced being emotionally, physically, sexually or financially abused by a current or former intimate partner and reside in Manatee County. All HOPE services are offered to any victim of domestic violence regardless of age, race, sex, ethnicity, sexual orientation national origin, religion, political belief, citizenship, immigration status, language spoken, or disability. *HOPE Family Services is committed to serving people living with disabilities and pleased to provide accommodations, including sign interpreters, translation services and alternative formats of printed materials upon request from persons who are deaf, hard of hearing or are living with disabilities.

Points of Interest

HOPE Advocates offers support services on-site at East Coast Migrant Head Start Project -Myakka Center, RCMA Palmetto Migrant Head Start, MTIs Farmworker Program and Healthy Start Manatee. Services include: emergency safe shelter, safety planning, assistance with civil orders of protection, court escort, legal referral for immigration assistance (work permit, divorce, legal permanent residency), food, clothing, individual and group support, children's counseling and community referrals.
