Program Description
Girls Alternative Program for Success
Just for Girls offers an alternative education program, located at the Palmetto center, for at-risk students who have trouble functioning in a traditional school setting. This middle school program focuses on academic skills, and career awareness. Professional teachers and counselors also lead group counseling sessions and prevention education concerning; substance abuse, coping with dysfunctional families, teenage pregnancy prevention, health and sexuality. Individual counseling is available to meet special concerns such as running away or suicide.
Jane B. Pratt Alternative School for Girls serves high-risk, middle school aged girls who are struggling in a traditional school. Through the program, these girls are turning F's into A's. Girls will increase knowledge of healthy life choices with emphasis on teen pregnancy and drop-out prevention; improving grades, attitudes, and behavior with comprehensive educational and individual development curricula.
