Program Description

English and Spanish Services. Appointments made by phone. The Safe Alternative to Out of School Suspension Program provides counseling and psycho-educational groups for students referred to the program who are at risk or would be suspended from school. JFCS Staff are assigned to work with the referred students and school personnel. Building Strong Families (Homeless Prevention) program services are provided for families who are at risk of becoming homeless. Childrens Crisis Team, in collaboration with the Florida Center for Early Childhood, provides 24/7, wrap-around service to children experiencing a mental health crisis in Sarasota and Manatee counties that are not currently receiving counseling services. CCT provides short-term case management and crisis counseling for children and youth from birth to age 17. Healthy Families/Healthy Children (HFHC) program services are provided for relationship enhancement to build positive families. Healthy Families/Healthy Fathers (HFHF) program services are provided for improving fathering skills to support healthy family relationships. Operation Military Assistance Program provides services for Veterans (with DD2-14 and all but less than honorable discharge) and their family members in Manatee, DeSoto and Sarasota Counties.

Enrolled student at participating schools. Building Strong Families services provided on site at the United Way main office in Bradenton. Operation Military Assistance Program requires veteran eligibility verification and has income guidelines.
