Program Description
The Family Self Sufficiency Program is designed to provide educational supportive services to low income students. We provide monthly case management,including joint problem solving, budgeting, resume writing, interviewing skills, and appropriate financial assistance while in school. The FSS Programs goal is to assist our clients maintain stability during their educational process. The FSS Program empowers families, advocates, provides emotional support, and guides families towards economic independence. Through a continual relationship with Step Up Suncoast, families will receive help in assessing their needs, setting and completing reachable goals.
Families can be enrolled in Step Up Suncoast's Family Self-Sufficiency Program for up to five years as they work towards becoming economically independent. During this time a major emphasis is placed on educational attainment while requiring part time employment. The Family Self Sufficiency Program is targeted to those individuals and families that are goal oriented, motivated, and persistent in their pursuit of a better economic existence.
This program is available in Manatee, Hardee,and DeSoto County.
