Eligibility Requirements and Important Information The Family and Consumer Sciences Extension Program provides research-based information and educational programming to empower individuals and families to make informed decisions about their well-being and to provide resources that enable them to improve their health and quality of life. In the state of Florida, citizens face the challenge of managing their resources, preparing for their futures, and making decisions about healthy lifestyles, careers, parenting, and other aspects of life. Florida households struggle to afford necessities such as housing, food, healthcare, and transportation. Additionally, obesity and chronic disease contribute significantly to the leading causes of death and disability and contribute considerably to annual health expenditures. Many Floridians are unaware of how nutrition, unhealthy habits, lifestyle choices, and financial decisions affect their health, wellness, and quality of life. |
