Program Description

HOPEs Emergency Safe Shelter is in a confidential location for victims of domestic violence who are fleeing an abusive partner. The shelter is designed to allow those who need it, time in a safe place to make choices that empower them to live a life safe from the controlling tactics of an abusive partner and to organize opportunities in the best interest of themselves and their children. HOPEs Emergency Safe Shelter also provides safety planning, advocacy (assistance with civil orders of protection, court escort, relocation assistance for those who qualify, food, clothing), crisis counseling, support groups, information and referrals to community resources. * No appointment necessary. * Call 24 Hr Helpline (941)747-8499 (V/TTY)for asssistance.

HOPE's Emergency Safe Shelter operates 24 hours a day, 365 days per year. Call HOPE's Helpline at (941)747-8499 (V/TTY) for a friendly, sympathetic and informed person to talk to in an emergency.
Eligibility Requirements and Important Information

HOPEs Emergency Safe Shelter helps victims and survivors of domestic violence and their children who live in Manatee County, as well as, victims who are fearful of being in danger or are currently in danger of being emotionally, physically or sexually abused by their current or former intimate partner. All HOPE services are offered to any victim of domestic violence regardless of age, race, sex, ethnicity, sexual orientation national origin, religion, political belief, citizenship, immigration status, language spoken, or disability. *HOPE Family Services is committed to serving people living with disabilities and pleased to provide accommodations, including sign interpreters, translation services and alternative formats of printed materials upon request from persons who are deaf, hard of hearing or are living with disabilities.

Manatee County Sheriffs deputies have faithfully escorted victims and their children to HOPEs Emergency Safe Shelter upon request when it is no longer safe to stay with the batterer in the home.
