Program Description
PPEC centers provide nursing intervention and medical supervision to children with special health care needs.
The youngsters who attend PPEC centers are ages birth to 21 with conditions ranging from respiratory problems, severe burns and cerebral palsy. Many are transplant patients.
Florida PPECs are not residential facilities; instead, they provide up to 12 hours of daily care for families struggling with the unique needs of a medically complex or medically fragile child.
PPECs are state licensed and regulated. They are operated and staffed by registered nurses, licensed practical nurses and other qualified personnel such as paramedics and nursing assistants.
